My mid-sem break is finally here🙆 I'm so happy because I can be away from school for a while although the homework is piling up. And the March test had just ended, thank God! The school was fine, but school is school. I was thinking about what post I want to write since the opportunity to write doesn't come so often. Then, I watched a Youtube video regarding Harry Potter and the idea came (insert *ting* idea comes sound effect here) I should write something about Harry Potter! But there's so much to talk about, so I start with the simplest I can come up with, which by doing a tag which I found here! Given the tag is about Harry Potter, here's a MAJOR SPOILER ALERT FOR BOTH THE BOOKS AND SERIES.
1. Favourite book?
It used to be Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban because it's the last happy book without *SPOILER ALERT* any death. I went through a lot with this series and now (2020), the book that I'm most personally attached to is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I read this book during the time that I was grieving and Harry was going through the same thing as well, which makes a huge part of the book so soothing for me.
2. Least favourite book?
Since Harry Potter is my favourite book series, I actually love all the books but the one that I'm least personally attached to is Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. It is what it is🤷🏻♀️
3. Favourite movie?
Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban, because almost all of my favourite characters are there and the experience of watching the movie itself was so mesmerizing.
4. Least favourite movie?
It's either Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows or the Half-Blood Prince. They missed so many details that are so crucial to the series which is one of the things I hate the most about book-to-movie adaptations.
5. Favourite quote?
Somewhere out in the darkness, a phoenix was singing in a way Harry had never heard before: a stricken lament of terrible beauty. And Harry felt, as he had felt about phoenix song before, that the music was inside him, not without: It was his own grief turned magically to song.
6. Favourite Weasley?
No way I'm choosing my favourite Weasley. But if I have to, it would be Fred and George Weasley. I love these two troublemakers so much, without them this series won't be as fun!
7. Favourite female character?
I'm battling to choose Hermione or Luna. I can relate to both of them, and I love both of them in the same amount. I can relate to Hermione a lot in terms of how she is passionate about her studies and well, her personalities and I can also relate to Luna's very interesting perspective of everything.
8. Favourite villain?
Bellatrix Lestrange. She's just evil for the sake of being evil and she's just evil through and through. She has no reason for being evil unlike Tom Riddle and she's not as annoying as Umbridge and with Helena's portrayal of Lestrange in the movie... she portrayed Lestrange amazingly.
9. Favourite male character?
Rubeus Hagrid or Fred/George Weasley. These two/three characters are so important throughout the series, I can't imagine Hogwarts without them!
10. Favourite professor?
Remus Lupin! But since he wasn't a professor for so long, then my favourite is Minerva McGonagall. She was a really great, cool and sassy teacher. Especially during this scene in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix:
11. Would you rather A) wash Snape’s hair or B) spend a day listening to Lockhart rant about himself?
I could wash Snape's hair just by using magic but I doubt he'll allow me to. I just pretend to listen to Lockhart's rant with my earphone hidden under my hair or hood or hijab or whatever. I'm sure there's some spell to hide it from Lockhart.
12. Would you rather duel A) elated Bellatrix or B) an angry Molly?
Every wizard and witch should know not to mess with Molly when she's pissed but even elated Bellatrix is really cruel. Bellatrix loves torturing people (with Cruciatus curse specifically) and Molly usually gets mad out of her love. So I'd rather duel with Molly because I know I wouldn't do anything that would make Molly kill me.
Update: I still stand by what I said a few years ago, as stupid as it sounds, but in terms of a better opponent, I will totally choose Bellatrix. She's elated the majority of the time she's duelling with someone so you can see the pattern of how she fights but there's no guaranteeing of what Molly might do when she's angry.
13. Travel to Hogwarts via Hogwarts Express or a flying car?
Hogwarts Express because I have a fear of height. And I would rather not get myself killed, or worst, EXPELLED.
14. Kiss Voldemort, or give Umbridge a bubble bath?
Kiss Voldemort. Imagine spending hours giving Umbridge a bubble bath, how miserable would that be? Fred and George didn't drop out because Voldemort, they dropped out because Umbridge was hellishly annoying.
15. Ride a hippogriff, or ride a Firebolt?
A hippogriff! You can borrow anyone's Firebolt anytime but a chance to ride a hippogriff doesn't come very often.
16. Is there a character you felt differently about in the movies versus the books?
Kreacher. Years and years of slavery must've brainwashed him and although in the movie Harry's and Kreacher relationship didn't change much (Harry needed to threaten Kreacher into finding the necklace Horcrux), in the book, when Harry treated Kreacher a little better, he earned Kreacher's respect. Kreacher even voluntarily tried to help Harry.
17. Is there a movie you preferred over its book?
No, but there are scenes that only existed in the movies that I really love. Like that scene where Harry and Hermione danced to Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds in Deathly Hallows.
18. Richard Harris or Michael Gambon as Dumbledore?
Richard Harris. It's not that Gambon didn't portray Dumbledore well, it's just that I prefer Richard Harris's Dumbledore.
19. Your top thing (person or event) that wasn’t in the movie that you wanted there the most?
Event 1: Hermione's SPEW movement.
Event 2: The way Kreacher treats Harry better when Harry listened to Hermione's advice to treat Kreacher better.
20. If you could remake any of the Potter movies, which would it be?
The Deathly Hallows. I just wanna add some little details. But really, despite of that, I'm okay even without any remake.
21. Which house was your first gut feeling you’d be a part of?
I was more confident of my knowledge than my courage before, so I thought I would be sorted to Ravenclaw although I internally wished to be sorted into Gryffindor just for the sake of being in the same house as my favourite characters.
22. Which house were you actually sorted into on Pottermore?
Gryffindor! As happy as I am that I'm in the same house as Harry, it was also kinda weird? Did I somehow unconsciously tricked Pottermore into sorting me into Gryffindor? There's no even a single molecule of courage in me that I took the sorting twice and got sorted into Gryffindor twice. No complaint, though.
23. Which class would be your favourite?
Defence Against the Dark Arts, Charms and Transfiguration. Mostly because of how much magic we're actually using during the classes.
24. Which spell do you think would be most useful to learn?
The Summoning Charm (Accio)! All the spells used in households are also very useful.
25. Which character do you think you’d instantly become friends with?
Ginny Weasley. As much as I want to instantly befriend Hermione, I don't think she would have time for me😂 I feel like I might have a lot of things to talk about with Ginny.
26. If you could own one of the three Hallows, which would it be?
It's kinda obvious that almost everyone who watched/read the Harry Potter series will be choosing The Invisibility Cloak because of its convenience. You can sneak out to everywhere you want without having the problem of being seen.
27. Is there any aspect of the books you’d want to change?
Despite the many loopholes in the series pointed out by many people, I love the books the way they are. If I could undo some deaths, I would.
28. Favourite Marauder?
Moony is probably my favourite Marauder. As much as I love all the Marauders (minus Wormtail), most of them are actually problematic in their Hogwarts years. James and Sirius were a bully and Wormtail is Wormtail. Remus didn't become a werewolf because he wanted to and even with all the rules he broke with the other Marauders, he's the least problematic among his friends.
29. If you could bring one character back to life, which would it be?
There's no doubt that I will always choose Fred. There are so many deaths I didn't want to happen in the series especially Sirius, Lupin and Tonks' but Fred shouldn't have died. Fred and George are one, inseparable and I just can't imagine one living without the other. The one who's left behind will be so miserable. To prove my point, Pottermore stated that George can't produce a full Patronus anymore after Fred's death, not that there's a chance he will encounter any Dementor but just how sad is that?
30. Hallows or Horcruxes?
If you're even thinking of choosing Horcruxes, I think you might need to reread the series:
"A Horcrux is the word for an object in which a person has concealed part of their soul... you split your soul, you see," said Slughorn, "and hide part of it in an object outside the body. Then, even if one's body is attacked or destroyed, one cannot die, for part of the soul remains earthbound and undamaged. But of course, existence in such a form...few would want it, Tom, very few. Death would be preferable."
Both are used to cheat Death but Horcruxes are more horrifying.
Phew, that was a lot of questions, but I had fun answering it and I hope you enjoy reading this post too! To anyone who's interested, feel free to do this tag! Especially for another fellow Potterheads 🙌
this looks interesting. wait for my entry xD
ReplyDeleteand I can relate with no14. everyone wants to be a gryffindor or slytherin back then (me included) even though I know that I'm like 100% ravenclaw
I'm going to wait for your post! Agreed, almost everyone who've read/watch harry potter wants to be a gryffindor and slytherin.
Delete"So I'd rather duel with Molly because I know I wouldn't do anything that would make Molly kill me" - seriouslyyyy, hahahahaha! when i read the question I thought it was supposed to be like who is a better opponent, but no, you chooses whom who would not oppose you. I would obviously resurrect fred back too! I actually got sorted into Slytherin but I do feel it is so cool.
ReplyDeleteMolly is a loving and caring woman, I can't imagine me doing anything that'll make her kill me, hehe. Slytherin is cool too! One of Slytherin's traits is ambitious, and maybe you are. There are a lot of characters I want to resurrect, but I want to resurrect Fred the most. He's so precious, why did Rowling kill him Y_Y
DeleteI loved this so much! I'm definitely a McGonagall fan too! :)). Xxx
ReplyDeleteYeay, we are in the same boat :) Glad you loved it. xo
